Research Associate: Sequencing Laboratory

About the Opportunity

SeqMatic is seeking a research associate to join our sequencing service team. The position requires a strong background in molecular biology, particularly nucleic acid quantification and NGS workflows.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform experiments related to Illumina NGS library preparation;
  • Operate NGS instruments daily;
  • Track and update sample information;
  • Organize and maintain experimental records and lab procedures;
  • Communicate in person and electronically with customers and team members;

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related science;
  • Working knowledge with PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis and DNA/RNA extractions
  • Experience of Next Generation Sequencing preferred, particularly Illumina RNA Library preparation or 10X Genomics Single Cell RNA
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently and with a team;
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills;

Inside Sales Representative

About the Opportunity

SeqMatic is seeking an inside sales representative. This role is responsible for supporting customer accounts and include: working closely with customers to understand their requirements, issuing quotes, and processing sales orders.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Make outbound contact to existing and potential customers to identify sales opportunities.
  • Manage and qualify incoming sales leads from outbound prospecting and incoming leads, understanding customer requirements.
  • Handle incoming sales and inquiries through email and phone calls.
  • Communicate with customers and follow up on leads.
  • Match service offerings to meet customers’ needs, present and demonstrate solutions.
  • Issue price quotes and close sales orders.
  • Manage customer relationships post-sale, including a strategy to develop long term business relationships.
  • Answering potential customers’ questions and sending additional information via email and phone calls.
  • Perform other duties as required to help the SeqMatic team achieve its objectives.
  • Support customer requests, such as sample tracking, web support, and project coordination.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Strong Genetics and Molecular Biology foundation to allow for a better understanding of the broad variation of customer applications in order to uncover sales potential.
  • 1+ years of experience in a Life Science laboratory, Sales role, or a related field with customer-facing experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate a resolution.
  • Conduct presentations effectively, professionally and comfortably to customers, peers, and management.
  • Preferred knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing methods, especially Illumina and 10X Genomics.
  • Self-motivated to continue learning beyond initial onboarding within the role.
  • Willingness to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Prior experience in a service environment using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system a plus.
